Which one ARGH!!!!
Re finance I doubt any camera shop deals will be good so go to a bank or even better just save up or buy what you can afford. Unless it is for business use where you can offset costs v,s earnings the message from the current situation is avoid credit. If you cannot afford to buya D70000 with cash can you afford it?

You can always add a soft focus filter for those who want it! ;) (Does anyone still use them?) Or a tiny bit of gaussian blur. What you can't do is add detail which isn't there..............

Sony SLT A77
If you try the A77 make sure it has the latest firmware (1.05). This has a lot of improvements - in particular it makes the camera operations much faster.

Full frame trend
Olympus is a big company - bigger than most realise. They produce many optical products, not just cameras and have cornered the market in certain medical devices. Despite Olympus's recent financial scandal, it seems to be felt that Nikon is more vulnerable as it is more camera-orientated.

What will Canon do about the D800?
Pixel binning will allow the user to have the benefits of very high resolution or very low noise depending on their requirements. I think this may be the basis on which the 41Mp Nokia sensor for camera phones will be operating. As there is no optical zoom, resolution will be reduced when you use the digital zoom, thereby keeping the noise level the same and you will still get a decent photo...

Micro 4/3 for professional use
Thanks Pete. I never use JPEG, if RAW is available. But it looks like the RAW images are also corrected in-camera. That said, I used my Pen with old manual Canon FD lenses and never found any issues. So correction can't be overly drastic. But it leads, I guess, to a whole new discussion! What matters more - the end result, or how you get there? ;)

Once we realise how important fossil fuels are to our economic and industrial activities then its use for transport may be even higher taxed. So its not so much the price of electric V's petrol today, as the comparison in the future. Battery technology is advancing rapidly so I am happy to play a wait and see on this. But I also agree no Electric car has passed my economic assessment in today's...

Upgrade dilemma
Good L grade glass stay whilst bodies come and go. My 24-105 has been with me from film EOS 3 and 5. Got the 20D and 5D mk 1 to replace the film bodies. 20D got replaced by 7D 18mths ago and 5D mk1 is still going strong. I did not think that the 5D mkll offered anything extra over the mkI execpt for extra pixels and video. Will be interested in the mkIII, but the lens remains the same and ...

yashica 28mm f/2.8 or canon 28mm f/1.8?
Beta radiation shoudn't be a problem, but I wonder where the gamma goes when the lens is on the camera. Does it bounce of the mirror same as light ? Does it get stoppped by the prism ? What units were they measuring, I wonder. I mean, that was a fun video, but not very informative.

New Cameras - really all that ?
Which would lead me to beleive this : Post tsunami Canon struggling to get factories up and running certainly not ready to produce new models take the workings of the 7D and stuff it inside a re-arranged 5D2 body with some new buttons and new badging , a couple of hand me downs from the 1dx which is not yet ready and hey presto on paper a brand new model. In reality for a 5D2 user something ...

Well its realy down to the word professional it simply means that someone who earns a particular living out of thier profession . Professional photographers get payed as thier main profession.however if someone gets payed to photograph something as a secondry job even tho they have a main source of income in another line of work . Surely they would be classed as semi-professional . An amateur...

The 1Dx is really an update on the 1D4 It's a replacement for the 1D4 and the 1Ds3. The lines have been merged. But it leaves the highest res canon as the 5D3 which is way behind the Nikon D800 in resolution.
