Everything is explained clearly and the advice given is extremely useful and easily absorbed. Colourful images are both nice to look at and useful for emphasising points made in the text, t...

Black and White in Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom: Create Stunning Images in Photoshop CS4, Photoshop L
The book aims to show you how to successfully convert images to black and white in Photoshop and lightroom. The authors give advice on how you can maximise your workflow and show you every step of the black and white conversion process. The book is very detailed and the lessons on offer are very easy to understand and work through. Some really great images illustrate the book and the screen shots of particular features of Photoshop and Lightroom make the lessons even easier to grasp.

Each topic has a summary which tells you where the feature can be found, what shortcuts work and which Photoshop has that feature. There's a colour tab system which will let you thumb-through the book quickly and...

Lightroom or Elements?
While I now do around 90% of my image editing in LR3 (combined with Oloneo and Topaz), I still use PS CS4 for the remaining 10%. While PS does have a number of advantages over Elements, I could probably live with a combination of LR and Elements. It would currently be impossible for me to manage with only LR as I use PS for cloning and multiple layer processing. The ideal solution is LR with...
