Photoshop help.
The key to getting to grips with photo editing using Photoshop Elements or Photoshop is to keep things as simple as possible. If you get things right at the picture-taking stage, most images will require alterations to contrast and a bit of sharpening and not much else. An awful lot of courses try to get into the more nitty gritty tweaking of images. You need to walk before you can run. S...

Photoshop or Paintshop Pro?
The full blown Photoshop, (for me CS2) is vital for professional print work etc, however 98% of all the images I post here get worked up in Elements 5; so it depends on your needs, if you require the pro features of PS then there is little choice (except Corel maybe), if you don't the Elements gives you the path to be able to utilise PS and is so much cheaper.

Are there alternatives to Photoshop CS
Dear Petepaint Interesting that this subject has come up. Most of us work to a budget and you have to decide which is your priority, camera/lens or editing programme.(In your case new computer and no doubt having to upgrade other bits.) In my case my I preferred to invest in the camera and purchased Elements 5 as a starting point. (Up until then I only used the editing software that came wit...

Photoshop frustration
Paul, I have just installed and successfully run the sample "hello world" action as detailed in the hidden elements tutorial in Elements 4. I would assume that if this still works then other actions should still run. cheers Al.

Challange Takui - Photoshop problems solved
Indeed, I also did that research, now the thing is, of course, to translate that into an image, but Im not very good at mathematics. :) Thats also the thing about writing tutorials, to keep it simple enough, to achieve a desired result. After that, the posible tweaks and creative posibilities are endless. Maybe you could try with the technique used in "The Aviator", its meant to give you the ...

Raw for thick people
Yes after reading a few times I understand and thats what I want...get the basics like WB and Exposure sorted on a screen then over to P/S to do my normal clumsy messing about. Guy Gowan would tell you that this is exactly how he does it (ok with Aperture or ACR instead of Lightroom and perhaps not the clumsy messing about!) Having said that, Lightroom does have a lot going for it too. O...

Is everyone PSP Mad ?
Photoshop has been around for many years, mainly in the printing industry design and graphics areas. A very powerful tool and is not just used for manipulating digital or photographic images, it takes a while to become fully conversant with it, but it is worth it in the end. Another programme is Corel Photo Paint this is included in the Corel Draw set up, again it is very similar to Photoshop a...

Elements 7 beginners help
There are a ton of tutorials to be found on the net, as has been said, but when I started out with PSE (v4) I found a book by Mark Galer very useful, as it talked you through a series of projects and came complete with DVD with video tuts and and sample images. Even the tuts I wasn't interested in for the sake of the type of pic (eg retouching a a beauty shot) still taught me stuff about the pr...

Photoshop
I have free Photoshop videos on my website and try to do it in an idiot proof fashion (which comes naturally!). I'm a copywriter by day so I'm used to putting complicated jargon into easy to digest language. I also have photo technique and photography marketing tips too. Hope it helps.
