Book Reviews
This guide is perfect for the beginner and is a great way for you to get started with Photoshop Elements. The chapters are well detailed and will take you through an introduction to Elements all the way through to more complicated and adventurous editing. Lessons are easy to follow and are split up by nice large headings which make the text easy to read. The Images used are not just decorative they also help demonstrate the techniques discussed in the book. The book also comes wi...
The book takes a detailed and very close look at Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. The 446 pages are split into fifteen chapters all of which are written in great detail and are well illustrated. The layout is a little cramped but with the quantity of information you are given it's something you can easily cope with. The book isn't linear and you can easily flick to a chapter you wish to study and work at your own pace. The book is a great reference tool and will fit perfectly on the prof...

Does anyone else *not* use photoshop?
I started playing with PS about 3 years ago and although I've hardly accumulated any true insight into the programme I really enjoyed what I COULD do with it. From there I decided that to further my kowledge I would need images I'd made myself-SO I bought a Fuji s602z, not because I wanted to take photos -because I wanted to explore PS.Have kind of got hooked and got me an Olympus e300 and I s...

Has digital photography changed your life?
In a nutshell NO/YES. I took great pride in learning the Ansel Adams Zone system technique, which worked for B&W as well as for colour. With colour it was more difficult, as extended developing times could also change the colour cast and temperature. Further adjustments had to be made on the final print. But black and white almost become 3D with well balanced shadow areas. I am using...

Get it right on the day versus Photoshop
I've just started at the beginning of the thread and I'm not surprised at Chris's reaction, I've seen some bitching in my time but honestly I agree with the abuse report we've just received. I'm locking this one.

Two Photoshop questions...
Just to say, the freebie 'picassa' software, from google, does a good job of B&W conversion, and also sharpens pretty well, as long as you have a quality file to start with. It also has a 'glow' filter, that i think would give you the look you are after. I've got some excellent results from it (much to my surprise). Its dead easy, and you obviously wouldnt require any P'shop skills! picas...

Time to buy Photoshop?
You've got PSP 8, why not upgrade to PSP X? It's usually only one or two versions behind PS (i.e. usually what PS has in this version PSP will have in one of the next two). I've never really understood how such an expensive program has become so popular with the general public who, like Tim says, probably only get 10% out of it. Ashley

business side of photography
I still have no clue on how to work photoshop however I am not relying on it for great shots. It could help me out in other ways. I have Lightroom and Photoshop. Lightroom is more useful in a professional work flow than Photoshop which is becoming more the province of an art editor/ designer these days now that it has become so all encompassing. The hard thing is knowing what you want to ...
