Storing photo's
I store all my unprocessed images in folders on a separate hard drive, I find the easiest way at the moment is to name the folders as eg. Spring 2012 etc. then if you remember when an image was taken it is easy to find, I also have folders for specific things like flowers or home town etc. Any prosessed images stay on the main hard drive as well as the external one and every now and again I co...

Even though our studio is upstairs I don't think that puts people off. Our gallery and studio are in an old building with the original stained floor boards with a grand staircase going up to the studio which most people love, and no one has ever mentioned it being a problem. The clients that do have a photo shoot all comment on how nice the studio is, they get on great with our photographer, an...

I now shoot weddings & live bands both of which pay me & both events often take place in dark venues. I wanted the best image quality for the weddings & best low light capability for the bands so the full frame was the way to go. I have lost a bit of reach because I no longer have the crop factor but If crop my photo I think I still get better quality with less noise.

A dongle used to be the term for a piece of hardware, typically with a parallel port plug on it My brother used to run a electronic circuit board etching machine via a CAD program casting about £3,000 that could only be used with a dongle in place. It used to drive my brother mad because in order to run other programs he had to remove the dongle. Eventually another company came out with a si...

Being Vertically Challenged
I've been using the 20" version of that screen Jack and its a cracker. I also like the screen resolution (which is a little lower but the same ratio). My secondary PC runs a widescreen TV/monitor and its nowhere near as nice to work with

Levels, Saturation, maybe Curves, Crop, Save, also Save For Web. Sharpen if going to print. Clone tool early on if my sensor is dirty. Just recently experimented with saving ProshowGold sequences as .wmv for possible insertion into videos, as P'show allows better manipulation (panning and zooming around still images than what my video editor (Serif MoviePlus X5) does. As much of my editing rev...

Some Equestrian Photography Questions
Yes, I have to agree with Keithh on that one. I have been successfully doing portrait work for over 8 years now without a 70-200. I use a 50mm prime mostly and get fabulous results. I guess it's down to personal preference. Oh, and I don't do weddings, stuff that for a game of soldiers, but yes, I think if I did the 70-200 would be a required piece of kit. But thank you for your best wishes Tom...

Narrow down you wants to three MUST HAVES. Sadly all compacts come with shutter lag. Ie the time between pressing the shutter and the photo being taken. Do you really need a massive zoom, really. It is handy for nature shots but very difficult to use unless you have rock steady hands. (even the vr control on the Nikon p500 or p510 cant take out all the shake). I would go for a smaller zoom b...

Just how good are you?
This has been a really interesting thread for me as it looks likely that I will be going into the Intermediate group at my camera club next season and someone recently commented on my EPZ portfolio that I should re-classify myself as intermediate rather than beginner. Despite the fact that it seems I must be producing better images I feel that I still have so much to learn. I would love to ge...

Taking portraits at home
Thanks :) No I didn't, the room is entirely white, including the floor so maybe that helped, but I just stood her in front of the window but at the back of the room so the light was softer and that was it.
