Wedding Photographer
Just to let people know, I have just got back from the first official wedding shoot. Everything went OK got some great pics, sun a little harsh but found some shaded areas. Got really cold so we moved indoors to take some shots, the place was great as it had some very big fireplaces and pianos etc... A nice staircase proved very useful aswell. Got asked on the day to stay for the meal and...

Wedding Photography - Help
In practice this means the same as a Ltd company in the UK. You business is at risk but not your personal assets. So any equipment, cash and other assets in the business can be seized. You could be made bankrupt (Chapter 11 in the US, I think?), and possibly be banned from being in charge of running another company (although I doubt it). However, the personal damage as a photographer w...

Wedding photo shoot...help?
| did my first (and maybe my only) wedding three weeks ago. My niece asked me a week before if I would take the photos as they couldn't afford a pro. I said yes explaining that I had never done one before and what she got would be what she got. I took a huge bag of gear and in the end used my 40D, 580 flash, tripod (only for the formals) I wrote down in a notebook all the shots I wanted ...

I've started asking for a bit of cash these days ;-) Never gone hungry at one yet though ! I agree about venues - and EVERYTHING to do with weddings in fact. Just seems to be a liscence to print money doesn't it? Good for photographers though ;-) They can actaully be really good fun to shoot if you get a rapport going..... that's where the people skills come in. If you drag people ...

I shoot weddings without flash, it is possible but it does take a lot of practice to make it look good.

You will be in your element at weddings if you are someone who is gregarious and really enjoys and loves people;if you can be a bit of an entertainer and get on with people not on a 1:1 ratio but up to 1:300 and really know your onions technically and prepared to do all those things necessary to be a success in wedding photography you cannot but succeed ! However some photographers are intro...

The 20D is an excellent choice for someone starting out. It has the same sensor as the 30D and tests show that noise wise there is hardly anything to choose between the 20D and the 40D at high ISO's. The main benefit of the 40D is the improved focus engine. The 20D LCD although smaller is actually sharper than the 30D - on the 30D any wide angle work looks soft - i.e. the 30D is poor for con...

Everything is done through limited companies and offset against 'paper' losses. There is no tax to pay. Believe me. Oh I believe you - it's a well-known ploy. Not rocket science. ;) However, the avoidance people at HMRC are, I am reliably told, getting hotter on this type of thing and fingers may get badly burned at some stage....... Good luck! :D

My tips would be to take a big relfector with you and get an assistant to hold it for you. Make as much use of daylight from the windows using the relfector. Flash is ok but it can give you flat lifeless photos if used wrong. If you buy one of the 5 in one reflectors you can use the gold side to give a nice warm colour to the skin or use the others sides to a diffused light. Either way you will...

There you go. Weddings arent the crazy **** some people make out they are. Its just a series of pics that tell a story, or at least thats what it should be... You probably did a great job, and the couple will be really pleased. but still. looking back through this thread, why did everyone seem to suggest keeping the wheelchair out of the pics???

Just to get it back on track, this was the question.... Hi all What are the best lenses to use at a wedding? Indoors/outdoors groups singles basically the whole day cost is not a factor Thanks for any help We have established that the OP is not a pro and is doing this as a favour for a friend who is on a low budget. Problem with 2nd tog at a wedding
Trudy, Remember to always act professionally, and have faith in your abilities. The photographer that doesn't will be remembered for their behavior and then forgotten- the photographer that offers and delivers an exceptional service will also be remembered and referred. All the very best for the next time it happens! Jude
