This post is exactly what I've been looking for; I've just recently ordered a Nikon film camera which will be used alongside a DSLR. I guess it was triggered by seeing a few old documentaries about David Bailey, etc.. I'm intrigued as to how I'll take to film, so will definitely post back here when I've developed some shots (my school has a darkroom, lucky me!). Rhys

A little laughter

Renault and Ford have joined forces to create the perfect small car for women. Combining the Renault 'Clio' and the Ford 'Taurus' they have designed the 'Clitaurus'. It is available in any colour you like so long as it is pink, and the average male car thief won't be able to find it - let alone turn it on - even if someone tells him where it is and gives him an instruction manual. Rumou...

HI. i have used the NX100 for over 3 weeks now, still very pleased with the results, i see that the 20-50mm samsung lense has just been awarded the EISA best compact system lens award, "exceptional image quality" " capable of very high resolution" that bears out what i found after going through the EP the Panasonic & sony range of lenses. i am looking forward to the new NX200 , but in the m...

And you in turn have made unsubstantiated assertions that the EP3 system is inherently better (by unsubstantiated I mean reference to articles that support it). Call it quits, eh? Crikey, this is a prickly forum. The fact that the mirror-less cameras determine focus at the sensor is "inherently better" because that's where the final image is being recorded - pretty uncontroversial...

Good grief Andy! Was that the quote you had from Canon? You really have me worried now. The turnaround time is about 4 weeks. What really bugs me is that Lehmanns are an official Canon repair centre, but are still awaiting training on the IS lenses. I'm sure that Lehmanns would turn these repairs around quicker than Canon and they are only half an hour's drive away from us. Lehmanns do gu...

Death of the DSLR

But, there's always the window to look through as a re-assuring backup. As a passenger I wouldn't like the idea of 'no window backup'. But we are losing 'focus' again and the post is becoming 'coloured' again !! Then, maybe that's reasons to have an OVF ?

Tell me why I cannot batch process more than one RAW file at a time and use saved settings on some of the parameters? Cos you haven't found the right "button" in C1? :)

You could always shoot a few ... or enrol them in the army,a bit of cold turkey, then send them out to iraq and bring some of the good lads back home! D :-)

Canon or Nikon

Jas, if you're going to be a pedant, at least make sure your spelling is beyond reproach. It's 'saxophone'. I bow to your jools of wisdom! jas Edit: Actually I was thinking of Saxa Salt for some strange reason at the time. Must learn to concentrate more. On the other hand - why be different? :)

Maybe just persuading manufacturers to release the details of their respective RAW formats for developers rather than forcing them to comply to one standard RAW format is the best compromise? That would certainly be one approach, but it wouldn't provide any guarantees. A manufacturer might agree to full disclosure of their RAW format one year, then change their mind the following year when t...
