Fujifilm X100
Sometimes you just have to dive in and buy the camera. :) There is no doubt that Fujifilm will be developing new or updated models but if you keep waiting for the next generation you will never buy anything. Based upon my experience of owing an X-10 and an X-E1 you will not be disappointed. Both are superb cameras and from everything I have read about the X-100 it is too.

I'm also tempted by the X-S1 [Read ePHOTOzine review Apart from pocketability it does tick an awful lot of boxes :)

I wanted a small alternative to my 5DII that would also be unobtrusive and not compromise too much on quality. I was tempted by the GX1 having previously owned a GF1, but in the end plumped for a G3. It's a little bit bigger [not much] but has an EVF, a flip-out screen and is significantly cheaper. It doesn't have the build quality of the GX1, but it does share the same great sensor and IQ i...

I note you've got a Nikon D3S. Can you give us some idea why you feel you need a camera of the type you have mentioned? Currently I have a D3s, a D300, an RB67 and an FM2n. All for specific purposes. On the digital side, when I travel abroad I normally remove the battery grip from the D300, fit an 18-200mm lens and regard that as my "travel kit". But sometimes even that seems too bulky a...

Now that the price has dropped below £800 I suspect that there may be renewed interest in this camera - or has it just come too late? A year on we have several competitors in that price range with either zoom or interchangeable lenses.

Fuji Finepix x100
Currently being advertised by several UK retailers at £999. I cannot find any information that suggests that it should be much different from any run-of-the mill compact with an APS-C sensor in the £350-£500 range apart from its rather classical appearance. Seems a pretty high premium to pay for cosmetics. I wonder if Nikon will bring out a digital compact in the shape of a Nikon F SLR???...
