So...... you're having a peek at my portfolio, are you? There seems to be a bit of a theme running here at the moment. Mainly flower shots.... But I am trying to do a few different things ;o) Enjoying life very much at the moment. Bought myself a 350D for my 30t...

My camera has the choice of sRGB or Adobe RGB in the settings.

If I work with Adobe RGB (1998) in photoshop, which camera setting is best? Or does it not make any difference?

Use the RGB setting, Emma...it has a wider gamut range and is what you're using as your working space.

According to Nikon:

SRGB I is supposed to be good for well balanced portraits, Adobe RGB is supposed to be good for manipulation, SRGB II is supposed to be good for landscapes.

EDIT - So, I agree with Keith.

Thank you both. The manual seemed to suggest that sRGB was better if you don't do any work on the image. I just wasn't sure if the image would adjust in colour at all when opened in photoshop. I haven't shot anything with Adobe RGB setting yet, should be interesting tomorrow!!

You can always convert from RGB to sRGB, but converting the other way gains you nothing in terms of range and colour depth.

Keith. I'm confused. Do you mean that Emma should use Adobe RGB. You just reference 'RGB'...

Appreciate your time on this.

Yes he does mean the Adobe RGB setting. Like he says, converting from sRGB to Adobe RGB doesn't gain you anything.

Well you learn something new every day. Been shooting on the default setting of sRGB since I had my 20D.

Time to change the menu settings

Thanks all
