The first storm of the rainy season blew through last week bringing with it some nice cloud formations. So I made a side-trip on my way to work with this image in mind because only at low tide can you get into this spot. Thanks to Martin W for seeing the posts as an abstraction of the city!
I am realizing that I should capture some images of the city skyline before it changes forever. A 1400 foot tower is about to go up along with several thousand footers and many more over 600 feet. (What would it be like 1400 feet up during an earthquake?) Fortunately, they are going up on the other side of downtown as seen from here. The touristy parts of town will remain mostly unchanged.
On this side of the bay however, life remains quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful Patrick. Sausalito is such a wonderful place if not too mobbed by tourists... like at this time of the day. In fact the whole area is lovely from there, over the headlands and up the coast to Mendocino and beyond. Lovely image. Cheers, Martin.
Well Jouko, actually I have discovered some dust spots. Just small ones in the corners. I have used the Eclipse fluid and some swabs but the spots are still there. I had to change lenses and it was windy. I did it in a plastic bag but some dust still got in!
Sarah, I knew you'd liek a little architacture. I'll try to work some more in this winter.

Beautiful, beautiful ambience and exposure Patrick but the composition bothers me a little.
I know it probably wasn't possible and you will have made the most of the viewpoint you had but I would have liked to have seen the posts not cut through those stunning forms in the background. A higher position maybe? But then I can appreciate the balance of the small fg posts on the left would have been spoilt........aaargghhh so many elements to unbalance!
Still very much clickable mind but maybe worth a re-visit?

I know what you mean Dan. I do have some from slightly higher where the posts to not break the horizon but they don't quite have the depth. So I uploaded this version instead. When I came home after shooting this, I thought that those would be better, but I like this more with bits of the posts breaking the horizon. I did make sure that the posts did not touch important parts of the bridge or skyline. There are several other things I want to do here, so we will see.
Thanks Dan, you were right to spot my original intention! Maybe with different light the higher view will work better. I'll look at them again tonight and maybe process one.

Wonderful composition keeps the eye moving to each area of interest, and I disagree that the bottom of the picture needs anything changing as its where the reflection of the looming black cloud sits forming a horizontal symmetry within the shot, nice on Patrick.
