Two images of the same flower, a Schizostylis frequently referred to as a Kaffir Lily. Sword-like leaves and a flowerhead a little like a smaller addition of a Gladioli which in fact it isn't, they flower late in the season and mine were only cut short when we had snow and ice recently. Said to be only semi hardy mine have made it through many harsh winter conditions and clearly haven't read the instruction manual! Grin

All my best wishes to one and all. Trust you have a wonderful Christmas and that 2013 proves a good one!

The natural capture in V 2 is so attractive but for sheer drama of presentation, V 1 is outstanding, Ann: the black b/g shows off the bloom so well.
Hope you both have a lovely Christmas and I send my best wishes for the New Year.
Ronnie.

I'm hard pushed to choose between the studio shot and the natural one, but I think the studio shot just has it by a stamen (flowers don't have whiskers)!

Fine work Ann awards well deserved have a great Christmas

Two cracking shots Ann but V1 gets my vote by a mile. Lovely black background and glorious colour. I love these flowers, I had one in bloom in the garden on Christmas Day but was far too busy with the turkey etc to get the camera out.

All my best wishes to you and George for the New Year.
