Out on Dartmoor one afternoon under a beautiful but frustratingly clear blue sky, my eye was caught by what looked like huge billowing clouds on the horizon. On heading over to investigate, it turned out to be a team of Dartmoor Commoners carrying out controlled burning of the gorse (swaling) just above Venford Reservoir. Thankfully they weren't fussed about health and safety and let me wander through the gorse as it burned - I didn't even have to have a risk assessment . As I was shooting towards the sun, the drifting smoke was backlit and the figures and twisted, burned gorse silhouetted against it.
Thanks for taking the time to look
