A carpenter bee on my acacia, telling me in no uncertain terms to clear out of his personal space!
Another fine series, Carol.
Three nice shots
Wow, he does look like he means business Carol....great set....hope your mouth is feeling better after the dentist
A fine set you have them eating out of your hand now well done. Ted.
Gosh, not so sure I'd have any round here on my hand, Carol, but well done you.
Lobe the iridescent colours in the wings in V 2.
And I echo ColeenA's comment re. the dental visit and it's aftermath.
A beautiful set Carol
Does it do little jobs around the house? Another fine set Carol.
V2 for me this morning Carol,
Love the warning gesture in V1, but the remarkable testimony to your insect communication skills in V3 is the winner for me.
You have done well here Carol as it is not easy to photograph such a black creature. Not sure I would have him on my finger though.
Aggresive little guy. Three excellent shots Carol. Peter.
Beautiful work Carol. What a stunning bee!
has to be V3 Carol
Good photography here Carol - so hard to capture detail on black but you have done so perfectly.
Superb set Carol.
V 2 rings all my bells this morning.....
Not sure I would want to handle one! Super shots Carol, you really do charm your subjects!
I find this insect really hard to capture, being all black, you've done a brilliant job with these.
Superb macro images Carol - if he was willing to pose on your finger,
he mustn't mind you sharing his personal space!
Cracking captures Carol V2 tops for me.
Stunning with fine details.
A well captured set Carol.
V2 is gorgeous.....I see you made friends with him
Super set Carol
Blimey, you're brave in V3, Carol!!
Three superb close ups.
hope your mouth is feeling much better today ! brilliant set of shots you are very brave letting it go on your finger!
Lovely work Carol,
Great set, Carol.
He looks mean! But a great set, Carol, and how clever - and brave - of you to get him onto your finger!
I am with Trev.
Love V2 for the blue wings. Gorgeous.
A terrible looking little beast !But an excellent image though! V1 is my favourite and the most scary looking!:D --- Jukka.
Wonderful detail again Carol.
A beautiful set
Hi Carol, three amazing shots... superb work, as usual
A fine set & I agree with Richard you are very brave.
Great set !!!....looks a right 'bruiser' ??
Really scary #1 Carol. Rather you than me!
Beautiful set Carol, like the detail of v1..
Lovely set Carol, I particularly like the one with the bee on your finger.
Excellent series Carol.
Amazing! So that's what they are called! I found some in Portugal this time (Very hard to photograph) They just take off and go! I got one coming out of their nest! Those amazing blue wings! Fabulous shot Carol! You are the master of insect photography as they even land on your finger! Brava! They are rather large in size...
Seeing your title, I wasn't sure if I should click the thumbnail...!
Detail in black beasties is not easy to accomplish, so well done for your achievements here.
As for having a bee on your finger, I think you must also have bats in the belfry...
It looks enormous, but it's tiny!!! Love the wings in V2. Great shots (again!!!).
Is this upload aimed at my Uncle Adie aka tomcat who threatened to flounce off this site on your previous upload?! If it was it has certainly done the trick as the old diva has left in a strop, no doubt he'll be back in a few days time when he's bored and nobody is paying him any attention!
WOW - this Carpenter Bee critter looks big - haven't seen one before - awesome! this is a great shot Carol - the critter is all one colour and yet the eyes still stand out. I think I like No.3 the best
