During a family day out we came across this ruined church. This is the ruined remains of Brawsey St James church. It was featured by "Time Team" on their Big Dig Live Programe which aired in 1998.
An enigmatic ruined Norman church on a small mound in the middle of Norfolk farmland.
No one is sure why such a church was built here – it almost certainly was once surrounded by the sea. Did the present one replace an even older one? Who used it and where is the graveyard? (According to local legend, plague victims were buried there.) The enclosure and the finds suggest that this place was once very important.
