I haven't seen the colour version, but this mono treatment works very well indeed.....I would imagine any colours in the sky (sunset, maybe ?) would draw the eye away from this lovely foreground, which has some great textures & depth, & with the tree on the upper 1/3rds it makes a strong composition, with a lot to commend it....1st class !!!!!
