I'd jsut got wet lying in the horribly prickley stubble left by the combine, so it was only fair that this bale got a soaking!

Was led on the ground... no lie there, 15mm lens and pretty carn close to the bale, had the flash on with it's diffuser pointing up and to the right - exposed for the bright ornage sky at the back then just experimented with Flash exposure compensation till I got one that was about right. well in my eye anyway.

bit of drama for the wednesday night then!

Make it a round 40 I think. Very creative photography here - can't think of any other where flash has been used like this.

It leaps off the screen - should do too, the lengths you went to get the shot :o)

Great shot Adrian, nice work on the lighting.

not sure about nettles... i'll get my legs stung fora good shot, but lying dow.... hmm!

cheers everyone, this was pretty experimental - handholding in the dark isn't usually my style! but to get the low angle I'd need a different tripod, and uzed the flash as grads on this shot would muddy the bale.

will post another angle, one from even closer to the bale, a little later.
