Not really sure what category this one should go into... I was looking at Paul Indigo's BLOG earlier and he had a list of 88 different ones (and is looking for more incidentally - mail him if you can think of any)

I digress...

Lower falls at Aysgarth, below the falls in fact - climbed down the little crevice and slipped and slided up to the falls themselvs to get a few shots.

Going for something a little different, so made a stab at getting the bright green mosses in there as a balance to the silky water.

Had 5 stops of grad diagonally over the waterfalls to get the greens to come up. the far side was totally black of course, so played with a curves layer to see if there was any detail lurking in the dark - and by god, there was loads. Got to love the sensor on that 5D - the thing is pure magic.

if the colours and detail here are due to the 5D sensor, then i have no choice but to save for one, absolutely stunning Ade.

you need E2 membership so we can view your stuff large.

Well, I'll have to stay with my Coolpix 5400, for now Andy. But this is a nice shot, however you classify it. Gotta love the textures to both sides of the falls.

there is a 1500 pixel version elsewhere but I will be turned into a pillar of salt if I mention its location.

clue....

what's this site about....

what make prizes?

put them together Smile

I think i've oversharpened this a little, the greens are a bit harsher than they should be

Excellent movement captured - you've balanced the tones very well too (was interested by your explanation - thanks for that)

Congrats on the HC - this is superb

thanks everyone - was really pleased with this one so glad it's gone down well on here

may even splash out on a nice big print of it.

I'd say that if you're yoying with the idea of a 5D and have the cash, stop delaying and get one. If you're not convinced, as Big Bri - he's over the moon with his as well.

An extremely accomplished image. great in every detail.

How about putting this in the 'intimate flowing waterfall with rocks' category? I don't remember seeing that one in there!

I love my 5D so far. Unfortunately, in the three weeks since I bought it, I have not seen a single cloud other than some coastal fog. Great weather but bad light for photography. I am getting the urge to retake every shot I've uploaded so far just for the higher quality.

Not only are there more pixels, but each one has less noise and quality of each is much improved!

Patrick

me too patrick - I compare the 10D shots of aysgarth from a year or 2 ago and just can't believe the difference.

I have learned a hell of a lot since then, not all down to the cameras, but the level of detail you get from a bit of L and a 5D is just astounding. probably too much for my needs, though I do hope to get some of these things sold when I get my arse in gear, so who knows Smile

but for my own satisfaction, the only other camera I'd thik of right now (relistically) is a 1Ds II, nothing else would interest me.

Love the movement of the water!! Finally got my hands on a decent slr digital and took my first slow shutter water shots today. This is wonderful thou, especially with the contrast in reds, white and green!!

best shot I've seen of these falls. very impressive!
