this is the fountain on the edge of milennium square in Leeds, it's taken hand held in the dark with off camera flash at 90 degrees to the right to see how the side light would affect the look of the flow.

It's about a million times better than the front-on flash and it's just nice to see a fountain that's not turned to milk for once - so I thought I'd post it, even though it is to all intents and purposes, and experiment whilst Dav and Sanchia were busy talking.

Was going mono with it, but quite liked the flecks of red from the street lights, so stayed colour.

hope you like it - I'll add some of the other shots from the night in the versions

Reminds me a lot of the film, or is it a toy? Really very effective, I like the "action" in the middle and the serene dark background and foreground. Of course I love the red lit areas.

There's nothing on this to suggest scale, which makes it interesting.
I really like the flecks of red and the froth you've captured in the fountain.

dark background's down to the shutter speed really - the flash was on my tripod, so I had to hand hold, so needed 1/100th or so Smile

I like dark backgrounds anyway - somehow mysterious.

It's not very tall at all - 18 inches maybe?
