Having done a few wind power shots I thought I'd get a contrast with the old Ferrybridge Cooling Towers!
We pulled up off the old A1, and sat in the car for 20 minutes and watched the rain... nearly giving up and going home for a curry I'd made.
then it gradually got brighter until we had glorious sunshine bursting through the clouds colouring them this amazing red.
It's old school power, but still can produce some cool effects!
Fantastic colours and lines. Worth waiting for.
Good smokey repeats, looks like they are creating the clouds.
Lovely saturated colours in the sky contrasted with the muted reflection work well. Small criticism is the dark areas in the corners.
Cokin P + 24mm + full frame sensor = vignetting
Fabulous water Ade and those steam trails are awesome.
Superb, love the movement blur in the steam clouds. A bit of a shame about the vignetting, but it kind of adds to the atmosphere.
Worth the wait. Great colours.
excellent twilight shot. amazing colours.
Think I may do Eggborough or Drax next time
My feet are still wet from that sodden grassey meadow - but got some great light, moral is to stick it out till the sun sets as it may come good.
boy did it look bad when we got there - torrential rain for ages!
top drawer stuff.
Nice on very dramatic
Adrian, great profile information. Super shot and magic colours. I would clone out the 3 power cables running from the top of the shot to the pylon in front of the central stack and I would also remove the two pylons on the right hand side. It is still a magic shot. Well done and congrats on the HC award.
This is a cracking shot
Cracker of a shot Adrian, well deserved award. The colours and quality top notch.
All the very best
Excellent shot, like the colours and composition. Add my click for an RC as well!
Very strong image
Well worth the wait! This is spectacular. Love it. Congrats on you HC! : )
Cracking shot Ade. Fabulous. Congratulations on the HC - thoroughly deserved.
"the cloud machine"
Terrific image. sniff sniff for not being able to see this larger
Great movenment in the steam, clouds and water. Great shot!
Just goes to show, its always worth hanging on that bit longer, even if your cuzza addiction is telling you otherwise.
Love the movement and late evening colour in this.
Nice effect...like it!
Wonderful colours and scene.
Cracking shot Ade, colours, comp, movement...spot on.
Joe, you know I laughingly said to my mates there that someone would say "clone out the power cables".
I can see the merit of doing that with a great landscape or cityscape, but when photographing a power station, I thought you could get away with leaving the power cables in - a bit like leaving a sheep in a fied shot, a beer in a bar shot or a coffe in a cafe.
I used the power lines in the composition - they are all pointing towards the middle of the cooling towers.
All commets though and thanks for taking time to do so.
Well worth the wait. Love the contrast blur in the water.
Very impressive industrial sunset.
Congrats on the HC, well deserved!!
Great image. You really are making good use of your new camera -
of course the strength of the shot is due to the Cokin filter holder!!!!!!!
Well done on the HC its well deserved this is a great shot and got the attention it deserves.
Quite brilliant. The movement in the smoke is fantastic. Congratulations on the HC
Excellent, a really attractive shot of a pretty unattractive subject.
Cheers Rob - it's going strong still, but forgot to wear a belt yesterday so it sat in the kit bag instead !
Rural north Yorks yesterday, industrial westyorks today.... whatever next?
I daren't go to south yorks.... they eat people there by all accounts!
everything about this is stunning
As per my comments on your later image!
love the colour you have captured in this! well done with the HC!
