Another shot of a rare to find Wood White Butterfly, this time a female laying eggs, trust me the egg is there, it's just hidden
I'm not entirely happy with it as the Plane of View is just slightly off, but still thought it worth posting because if the species rarity. I've marked where they can be found on the map, so if any of you butterfly togs fancy tracking one down, go for it!.....I warn you now though, they ain't easy ![]()
Thanks to everyone who commented on yesterday's upload of the Swarming Bees, I know the quality of the shot wasn't going to set the world on fire, but I still thought it interesting enough to upload......
Here's hoping you all enjoy this image, hope everyone had a fine weekend, regards......Ade

This a superbly detailed image Ade.Shortlisted and deserves to do well.
Tom.
The camera's not quite parallel with the wings and because of this the sharpness falls off, especially around the egdes of the wings, if you can enlarge it, you'll see what I mean......Perhaps I'm being a little hard on myself, but it's all in the pursuit of perfection
My excuse is, I'm disabled with a really bad back, I broke it in an accident years ago and getting down low for butterflies can prove to be really difficult sometimes
Never mind, I'll try harder next time LOL
Ade
What an amazing shot
I dont know how you got it
So sharp as well
Great stuff
Yes Jerry, it is indeed Haugh's Wood, I mean't to mention that when I said I'd put the map co-ordinates in, Doh! I'm surprised you haven't seen any there though mate, as it's one of the Wood Whites major strongholds in the UK. Reckon you ain't looking hard enough? ![]()

Wonderful wildlife capture. Sharp where it matters; I think the very slight softening towards the wing edges is perfectly acceptable. No one would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out anyway ![]()
Great shot!
Andrew
Great capture Ade... fabulous comp and detail.. the egg laying makes this different.... and that eye is fab
Jon
Superb close-up. Stunning sharp detail and lovely colour. Beautiful well timed exposure.
Steve.
Definitely worth showing Ade. No problems with it being a little off plane(wish mine were as on as yours) . The eye, antenna and abdomen are all spot on. There is so much detail in this little butterfly, which reminds me of a delicate little moth. I remember these from many years ago but around here they've been gone a long time, so it's nice just to see it.
Great shot
Julian
A fabulous shot of this wood white, the detail and clarity are most impressive
