I've been wanting to photograph Red Squirrels for ages but our local ones have all but been wiped out.
I'd gone to Killhope Mining Museum yesterday hoping to see a Water Vole but imagine my delight when I saw they had Red Squirrels.
The hide wasn't ideal with dirty windows but I found a spot where I could stand and not disturb the animals.
Didn't see the Water Vole but I will go back as once you pay an entry fee (£6.50 concession) that one payment lasts a year as long as you keep your receipt. They do close at the end of October but there are events through the winter months so maybe access to the woodland is available on those days.
