Lovely day to go 'birding', so I went up to my secret bird spot near Low Force and saw lots of birds: coal tit, great tits, blue tits, even long tailed tits and there was a spotted woodpecker, a tree-creeper, and all the more common birds who all went through my lens and just wouldn't keep still.... so none of my pictures are any good!
Just when it was time to go home, up popped this little chap. Skittish, but hungry. A little difficult to get as it wouldn't quite come out of the tree root system and kept darting back in. Anyway, I suspect it's not actually even a mouse; probably a small vole of some kind. I'm sure someone will know.
Cute anyway. Thanks for looking and for your patience. helen x
