Thanks Dave...it seems more pronounced after posting on epz and I am unsure of it. Checking on the bird forum I belong to the colour ranges from dark brown through to chocolate and the magenta shade you see here (if we are looking at the same colour, who knows what everyone sees with their individual monitors?) It is deffo on the original image and might just be the way the light has caught the bird?

I've got the same bird and ther'es an unusual colour on mine too. I think its the sheen of the black in that sun. Great image Al,dont think I'll bother with mine now!Sad

It's actually very beautiful and is a hidden facet of these wonderful birds. In fact, I think I prefer them to the puffins!!
