I like this foor its stark simplicity - it beaks a few "rules" but no harm in that. It splits well into three horizontal layers. I think it would be punchier if the colours were given a wee boost in saturation, and also if you boosted the contrast a wee bit.

It's one of those cases where a vertically central comp. works well - as the scene itself is quite serene and static, and the centrality adds to this. In fact I'd go a bit further and say it would be a wee bit better if the trunk had been more central

Nothing to add to the above, but I think it's an oak, and I also believe it's worth giving some thought to a title

If I'm right about the oak, it's a pretty emotive tree and worth building a title around.

But then I'm just a tree-hugger
