It's taken most of my life to go from wandering around with a camera hoping that a great shot will present itself to seeing great shots everywhere. I don't really care about the people staring at me in a supermarket parking lot photographing the flag over the markets entrance. I saw what the light was doing to the flag, and I shot it.
I hope I live long enough to use this gift it's taken me so long to achieve. Monet in his eighties, crippled with arthritis had himself strapped to a wooden back brace that held him up to paint. He deadened the constant pain with an ever full wine glass. The work he did this way is some of his most sensuous, passionate, and most profound work. I hope I could be one tenth as good as he was.
