Lately, I've been given a lovely series of sunset sky's to play with. The problem is the foreground. In an urban area like Los Angeles, the landscape is littered with buildings, power lines, and all sorts of distracting and ugly city sprawl. This particular picture was taken in the parking lot of a chain store discount center.

The sky was beautiful, even though I never saw another person look up. I managed to get good images including a local landmark, a late nineteen sixties modernist glass cube office building. At sunset, the glass which is mirrored, and slightly green explodes with color. All in all, it was a good shot, and I only had to remove one parking lot light.

Stunning sky and lovely iridescent green reflections.

"The sky was beautiful, even though I never saw another person look up." It drives me nuts the way people are so preoccupied with things that just don't matter that they completely miss the outstanding beauty that is all around them. I want to go up to them, shake them and say,

"Get your face out of your phone/shopping basket /off the floor and look up!"
