Less than two percent of my car shots are done in direct sunlight. Direct sun creates what are called "Specular highlights. Those are those bright reflections of the sun. They look harsh. The only exceptions is the newer cars with a matt silver finish. They have no highlights, and the only retouching you need to do are the reflections in chrome glass, or plastic. There was one big honking reflection in the tail light. I removed that faster than Paris Hilton in an I.Q. test.
