When traffic is crawling with stops in between, I get out my Nikon Coolpix and start shooting things that catch my attention. Most of my pictures are abstract, and I think it's fun to baffle the elitists who are constantly comparing lenses that are exactly the same to find some microscopic difference. They will then write a three page blog about it.
I really yanked a few chains with this one. My 510 goes out to one thousand millimeters and makes for lots of fun . This shot was made through the heat of hundreds of engines in traffic ahead of me. Focus was almost non existent because of heat waves The result was a pretty funky image.
I showed it to a prime elitist. Smug, arrogant, and conceited. I explained how I used a custom made filter to create an impressionist pattern of dabs of light, how I rented a Nikon three hundred millimeter F2.8 lens, a piece of glass so expensive that even top pros rent instead of buying.
He studied the image and gave me his approval. He said it was an example of precise technique combined state of the art technology. Oh! was that fun!
