There is a little corner of ePz called Photo Locations, oddly enough you can find locations to photograph there. The locations do not appear there by magic, each one has been lovingly contributed by members of this photographic community.

Its alright, but what the hell happened to Norfolk? Does nobody visit? I know some of you do, but at present there are very few locations in Norfolk which are promoted.

So, like an idiot, i kinda publicly vowed to make it my mission to fill the gap.

Oops...

Within half an hour the enormity of the task really hit me, it is a big task, it involves taking great images of iconic and the not so well known locations in Norfolk. There are many to choose from, that is not the issue, i will be spoilt for choice.

But now i have vowed to do this, publicly, i know i have to deliver some stunning images now and then to contribute to Photo Locations (main menu, hover over Inspiration and click Photo Locations, its easy to navigate to). Am i even up to it? Landscapes are not my forte, i have got lucky with maybe one or two images but thats about it, ii have never waited around for a few hours while the light changes, well, actually i have, but not very often!

As i mentioned, the locations will be easy to choose. I have several villages on my list, as well as market towns, unusual, off the beaten track locations, beauty spots etc. My hometown, while not technically in Norfolk, will get its own pin in the map here as well, though i have dozens of images to choose from already, however i do need to update my town image collection to reflect the diversity which is now here in big amounts, should make it interesting.

I have already began to add locations, my first one being in Peterborugh of alll places. My other one is the Lavender Fields of Heacham, both with old images, so apologies for that. I have submitted another entry tonight, at a location near Thetford, at Lynford Hall, again using old images.

New images will have to proceed, images without me in them at least, this isn't some self promotional thing, and i wont even appear in any new images shot specifically for this project, i dont need to be in shot, not all of them anyway Wink

It is a daunting prospect, make no bones about that. The review itself flows naturally, the same cannot be said for my landscapes Sad

Re The Lavendar Fields at Heacham.

I got some great shots, for me anyway, of them actually harvesting in that very field.
Still using my Bronica ETRSi in those days with Velvia 50 transparency film.

What I remember mostly though is the scent, very strong. In fact too strong for me really as I ended up with a quite bad headache Sad

Oh how silly of me, completely forgot that all enveloping scent you get when stood in the middle of a lavender field, some love the smell, some are not so keen, either way it lingers and clings to your clothing, yeah, the smells was definitely something i missed out on, was too busy concentrating on the visual aspect. I love the smell of lavender and i always liberate a bit for my bedroom Wink

I am rather envious, i have never seen them harvest the lavender personally, but i am guessing they dont need John Deers help (apparently they make tractors lol) i also failed to mention the Norfolk Lavender Shop which is located a few hundred yards towards Hunstanton, i have never been, which is typical of most locals, but i have heard good things about it.

I never mentioned this but in the summertime i intend to take the steam train on the north norfolk Poppy Line, from Sherringham to Holt, and just review that journey as a location, im sure there will be photo opportunities on that trip.

The Broads will be challenging mostly because i am as unfamiliar with them as i am with the dried up rivers on Mars, i know a few spots in that area, Wroxham and surrounding area's spring to mind, i know that area well enough but the rest may as well be on Mars for all i know about the Broads.

I am really looking forward to capturing Norwich, mostly because its another big challenge, but i know Norwich fairly well, though a bit of guidance wouldnt go amiss, i am sure there is much to Norwich i am yet to discover.
