It is that time of the year when these large insects move into our area. They cause great damage to crops,gardens but especially the vines which is why as I type this I can hear tractors in the distance spraying in the vineyards.

Pests in every sense of the word Alvar. But beautifully captured here. Even though they are pests they are very colourful.

Well the 'Éphippigère des vignes' is actually quite harmless , it is the far more widespread 'provencale' who does the damage.
and is a really fine macro !!!
