St Olaf's Church at Wasdale Head, Cumbria. Said to be the smallest church in England, Wasdale also boasts the Biggest Liar, the Tallest Mountain and the Deepest Lake. (And one of the best Pubs!)

HDR bracket @ F11 @ ISO 100 @ 16mm

I've given it the 'Orton' treatment as this little building crouching down behind a screen of ancient Yew trees always seems very mysterious. I've created an album to bring together all my Cumbrian Photos in one place

Please enjoy the large version. Many thanks for all the comments and votes on previous uploads.

I thought the smallest church in Englend is Bremilham Church, in Wiltshire it's 10' x 12', quite an unusual building though, it's on a farmers field...

I prefer the Hedgerley Church that you shot.... but then I would huh? I love the colors. You make England look like the sun shines way more often than it does...lol.

I wouldn't mention that when trying to get served at the Wasdale Head Inn!

I think you will find St Peter's at Tillingham.,Essex is the smallest.

St Peters Chapel, Bradwell on Sea

St Peter's Chapel is one of the oldest intact churches in the country having been built in about 653 AD by St Cedd.

Towards the end of the Roman empire and the beginnings of the Saxon occupation Christian evangelist begun spreading Christianity amongst the native Celts in the British Isles. St Patrick was based in Ireland, St Columb in Scotland and Aidan formed the monastery at Lindisfarne.

St Cedd was trained at Lindisfarne by Aiden and one of a group of missionaries who were to carry the word of Christianity to the Saxons.

I do like the shot but feel sharpness would enhance the Church.

Culborne Church somewhere nearPorlock in Somerset has a claim on being the smallest church still in operation - I think.

back to the shot - not sure this is a brilliant candidate for Ortonization for me anyway I prefer the detail in V2.

Cheers

Robert
