The photograph is a view across the Inner Sound between Applecross and Raasay/Skye, taken during the good weather a couple of weeks back. I also like the play on words with the title - it has a Kharmic sense about it.

Rather scarily I visited Alan Wright's (of Lyrical Scotland fame) new gallery outside Castle Douglas last weekend and he has a very similar photograph, taken from a lower viewpoint and without the people, which I think add a little extra to the picture anyway.

By the way, Alan Wright's gallery is well worth a visit if you're in the area. Good tea/coffee and buns as well as good photography.

Thanks for looking.

This has such a calming effect on the senses. The division of colors is most attractive, and the motion in the foreground sand is mesmerizing.
You could even crop it into two separate images and they would both be lovely.

Nice recession in the mountains, lovely light on the water and a complementary colour in the sand. That's enough to make this a pretty decent landscape for me but what gives it that little bit extra are the figures and how they are arranged in the frame. A nice antidote to the usual, rather sterile, landscapes we see here. Have a Guest Editor's Award.

The tiny human figures seem to be heading out to sea, towards the horizon. This picture has a strange, slightly disturbing feel for me. I agree with Julian, an antidote to conventional landscape (and creative use of portrait format too).

The little figures give a real sense of scale and I love the layers of distant mountains. There is something really unusual about this shot and I'm not sue what it is, but I like it a lot. Just thinking that it could be the combination of people enjoying themselves on the beach and mountains, not things we often see in one image. I would never have taken this, but I wish I had.

Fantastic sense of scale; makes the Sound seem even bigger. Cracking part of Scotland with some of the best beaches & scenery in the world. Beats anything on the pompously named English Riviera with its fruit machines and fish & chip shops.

The tonal quality is also excellent & the slightly muted colours are very well recorded. Almost a graphic look to it, chopped into 3 distinct bands.

Its the people though that make this and youve done well to get them in such a formation and no one is chopped half in/half out'.

10/10

I know this spot well and I would never have thought of such a composition. Well done!

very deserved GEC UA Fraser, and like the inclusion of people in the scene which gives you the scale of the place, the blue tones looks good and I like the water surface too. Very impressive work.

Just found this Fraser, how I missed it is a mystery to me. The Pass over the mountains is spectacular and it just keeps getting better the more you look around. The inclusion of the people, which I've never seen here, adds a great deal as well as scale. The Cuillin Hils in the background is something I never tire of seeing, from any angle. Lovely crisp star spangled water in the sound.
A sublime image from a grand place, a glass of crisp white wine and some prawns in the shell would just round this off beautifully. I'll settle for the image. Congratulations on the award too.
