Good morning....thanks for all you comments and help in choosing an image for the Scott Kelby competition.
Images of the Bo-Kaap today, a colourful glimpse of a part of Cape Town....

Walking into the colourful Bo Kaap neighbourhood in Cape Town is like going from Black and white to amazing technicolor. The Bo Kaap, in the shadow of Signal hill, is in the heart of Cape Town. The earliest members of the ethnic group known today as Cape Malay arrived as slaves brought to Cape Town in the 17th Century by the Dutch (The Dutch East India Company) from Southeast Asia. Cape Malays also came from India as well as Madacascer,Malaysia and the Phillippines.
The bright colours that are now emblamatic of the neighbourhood is a more recent phenomenon, starting in the 90's after the end of apartheid. Painting their Georgian styled houses in bright cheerful colours was a way to express happiness and joy and has developed into a tradition throughout the neighborhood.
The Dutch eradicated their identities by giving them new Surnames, mostly the month of the year they arrived. You will find a lot of the surnames such as January, September, October and November are still used today.
Have a nice dayGrin

What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of apartheid, Colleen, and a fine set of images to show us. I love the presentation of V.1, closely followed by the rather enchanting scene in V.5. Carol

Whilst subtle colours work well in some areas, it is great to come across
a colourful row of houses like these. The strong contrast in V4 is remarkable
and the child dressing in V5 is lovely.
