Watching a recent series on TV about an Edwardian photographer, ahead of his time, taking pictures around the world before the cultures and times were lost, I wondered how to best get the effect he achieved through time and the chemicals he had to use on glass plate. I loves the tones and colours. I'm not sure I acheived it properly and would be grateful for any advice. I don't have a special software filter, but do have photoshop.

No, I agree... it was a very overcast day, so waiting wouldn't've done it. The 'noise' was done on purpose though to try and get the 'grainy film' effect.

A good effort Angela, I will have to look at some of those old Edwardian images one of these days!

Good perspective Angela, I might have corrected the verticals in PS.

I like how stark and 'unwelcoming' this is. Smile I think it could be improved if you perhaps went back and took the shot again without the car and the person in? Apart from that, I like it.

Thanks everyone... lovely to have the input.

Norma... if you look at the building to the back and also the 'shed' on the roof, you'll see it is vertical, but maybe I should've done the vertical to the main building?

RachelMB... yes, I would've preferred it without the car too, but an overcast Sunday afternoon was as quiet as I was going to get it! Smile Newton Abbot, like everywhere has free parking shortages. The lady in red was actually putthere I'm afraid! In those Edwardian shots, because of the chemicals used being quite primitive, most of the shot was unsaturated, losing mostly blues, sometimes green showed well, sometimes not, but the reds were rarely touched, so I layerd and erased a saturated layer so the unsaturated red remained. Would've been a bit boring otherwise! Photo of a warehouse! Smile

Nice aspect. Agree about the sky not doing much for the shot. I may have used flash to lighten up the foregound a bit.
