I tried. I took the camera along to Ashridge in Herts when my other half took some youngsters from the local Pony Club (and parents) for a ride round the woods this afternoon. Glad to report the kids had a good ride round and none of them got lost or fell off. But it was warm and wet and the light was awful for photography. Midsummer's Day!!! Grrr... Still the dog and I had a good walk at least!

But we did have some drama when something spooked two of the ponies and they decided to go round again on their own! Amazingly, considering the size of the area, one of the riders managed to spot them on the track, grazing on some lush grass, and brought them back. We all had visions of nasty accidents or missing ponies for days ahead. (Which reminds me of a doggy tale I'll tell you another day.)

Hi Angela,
Do you live near there ? We used to live in Chiltern Park Berkhamsted in the late 70's and then moved to Boxmoor in Hemel Hempstead until 1981. My husband was posted to Yeovilton and we moved to Somerset and then to Cornwall. Isn't it a small world ! Smile

Hi Dianah,
Yes, we're just up the road from Boxmoor, in Bovingdon! We even looked at a house in Chiltern Park when we got married.

When we revisited Berkhamstead we looked for our maisonette in Chiltern Park but walked round and round in circles..couldn't find it at all !
I taught at Boxmoor Primary School from 1974-1979 when my first daughter was born . I knew Bovingdon really well..I bet I wouldn't recognise it now ! Smile

Not changed a lot really. A few bits of infill housing, but the outer edges much the same. We have the Prison now, but the Green Belt has held up so far! My son was born in 1980 at the old Hemel Hospital, as was the second in 1982 - now that's an area that has really changed a lot. I guess the lack of overall change is one reason we have not made much effort to move away - generally very peaceful and pleasant and still has a good village atmosphere (despite the occasional upsets by the local 'yoof').

I really used to love Bovingdon..we used to have coffee mornings every Tuesday morning and one of our group lived in a very POSH house in the village. Not like us, ours was a three bedroomed terraced in Boxmooor. I had both my children at the old Hemel Hempstead hospital, I think it was called St Pauls. Catherine was born in 1979 and Susie in 1981..even more of a coincidence Angela!
