A gorgeous image - I really like the colours and the eye is lovely and sharp! I think I may have just taken a little off the right hand side (to remove the dark area), but that is just a personal thing! 
This is a fabulous image, I love the composition and colours
As for the competition, New Beginnings could be a new start, perhaps in a new hobby, school or job. It could be a new life or a new direction in life - as long as you can say in your description how it all fits, go for it!
