Good Morning every one, as promised something very special today. Rated in the world’s Top 20 most beautiful Butterfly’s, the Eyed Pansy. I found this almost impossible to capture and it has a flight like no other I have ever seen. The wing spots change colour with the light from a deep turquoise to a navy blue and each marking has its own differing colours. It’s very fast moving and spends most of its time on the ground when not in flight. I followed this Butterfly for hours and consider myself absolutely lucky. I found myself diving on my stomach to get a good enough BG. As luck would have it, kept coming back to the same flower over and over. Very few of these images have been cropped and most are full sensor size and have been converted from RAW to Jpeg but are still 8 to 10 MB per image. I hope you enjoy these special Images as this was a great responsibility and my images in no way can portray the absolute beauty that nature has provided the world with. Kind Regards…John
http://www.technology.am/20-most-beautiful-butterflies-on-earth-pictures-050011....

I found this from a photographer on the Web. No wonder I had such trouble……..
This beautiful butterfly made it so difficult to take some shots. It would fly around and then suddenly it would sit down for some of seconds, opening and closing its wings a couple of times! It looks totally different when the wings are closed ... see next photo!
I couldn't get a good shot of the fine detail of the head and the legs but at least I can show the patterns!
I had to crop this one considerably! I wish I could get closer!

This I also found on the Web…….

This is an Asian and African species, and a single specimen was caught in Clarence Lane, Roehampton in Surrey on 5th June 1950. It is believed to have been accidentally introduced in goods transported to the British Isles.

Ever wondered how those intricate designs landed on the wings of the millions of butterflies fluttering around you? The master craftsman in heaven needs to be credited with the eye for detail that makes each design different. Counting the inhabitants of the butterfly family is beyond comprehension. So are the crafty designs that adorn their flimsy wings. We have here for you a list of 20 most beautiful butterflies that inhabit the earth, and this comes as a continuation to the UN International Year of Forests series.

Junonia orithya is a nymphalid butterfly with many subspecies occurring from Africa, through southern and south-eastern Asia, and in Australia. In India its common English name is the Blue Pansy, but in southern Africa it is known as the Eyed Pansy.
