v2 at the suggestion of Bricurtis; I've tried to lift the shadows a bit. Not sure if it's worked...

Lovely image, well balanced and with great colour.
Dawn seems far too early to be out, mind you - even in winter it's only just after the middle of the night. But it will have removed you from the continuing banalities of the R3 announcers ![]()
Regards
Bill
Fabulous shot Ann, great pov and composition and that sky is gorgeous
Hugh
I like your composition/placement. I guess most people's instinct would be to put the boat on the left with just a few grasses and allow plenty of space for the sky. You've concentrated on the grasses, still held by the shadows of night, with just a hint of the approaching dawn. Very subtle.

PS Been meaning to pm you - have you come across music to air-conduct to on Radio 3? Just in case you want to raise Christopher's blood pressure...
Excellent pov to show the grass heads against the early light - lovely detail. Beautiful colour and well thought out composition. Cracking image Ann.

A great setting again Ann. You must think I'm a pain but you need to lift those shadows again - only trying to help.
Your camera has closed down because of the bright sky leaving the fg too dark and the image flat - give it a bit more contrast too.
If you would rather me not mention these things in my comment please let me know but seeing as you ask for critique might be worth leaving mods open too.
Brian.

No, I don't think you're a pain, but my view (probably wrong) is that it was quite dark when I took it and if I lift them any more, it may look unnatural.... I think I tend to under expose anyway; maybe that's the problem. I'll see what I manage now and post it as a variant. Watch this space - and please keep criticising!!!

I think v1 is my preference here. Lifting those shadows in v2 makes the image look unnatural to me. Early dawn's light would not have reached the foreground vegetation quite yet. V1 is richer and much more appealing to my eye.
Anne
You show great courage and tenacity staying here all night from dusk till dawn Ann. I thought the dusk shot was very good, well this slides well up the richter scale of joy and thrills. Magical composition and use of light, so well done my friend, a great end to the week.
Dougie
A really strong composition Ann. I prefer the more natural V1.

I love this one Ann - one of those pictures that you could fiddle with for hours - but I love this one as is in v1 - probably the best would be somewhere between the two. As said above it might be an idea to tick the modifcation box
Version 1 is in my opinion far better, gives the mood of the moment more realism.
Enjoyed viewing both shots uploaded here Ann ….. but if I had to pick a favourite it would be V1. Here you have captured the mood so extremely well. The low lighting together with the warm sky and the silhouette of the long grasses in the background is super. One not to walk past without taking a shot.
Smashing.
Dave.
Love this kind of shot.. Comp is brilliant, lovely tones in the sky with the silhouetting grasses, super
