Spotted him last sunday, hiding in the high grass and got him before he saw me
Luckily, this is only one of them and not a whole tribe in the meadow. his name according to Drew's bug book is Dociostaurus maroccanus

You're right, I rather leave them to the birds. here the locals rather have snails and frog legs... but I have seen people enjoying goannas and grubs.
