... in reality I'm a cabbage white.
Well seriously this one has been puzzling me. It is very clearly a Melanargia galathea , a female marbled white, but why has she got blue dots?
I'll put her other side up as v2 this one is from the meadow on Tuesday , taken quite late in the back light.
She flew of before I could reposition myself better on her sunny side.
Special thanks to Walter and Nathan for the UAs, and to all of you voted for my meadow picture.
My sincere feelings to all you victims of British weather. Your June looks now like our April and early was, we had 36º in the shade today, quite difficult to work in this heat.

want some warmth ... but that sounds unbearable to me
Gorgeous set.. & I do like V2 with the back lighting.
The dots may be an aberration or a regional variation, I know that Orangetips in Ireland are often different from those on the UK mainland. If you are really curious you could pm Guy Padfield or leave a message in the forums on UK Butterflies website. He is a naturalist based in Switzerland who is an expert on butterflies throughout Europe. I'm sure he would be only too glad to help and would be able to answer your question.
