Many thanks for all your creative and inspired echo on the rusty cannons.
Special thanks to Mick B for his history lesson, Andy watch out if the French have a bad day aiming they might go for Singapore instead ![]()
here are the Provencal fritillaries at it. Taken in the neighbours meadow at 40ºC in the shade. I was bitten by two horseflies whilst stalking... Closeup only on request, adult content behind the scabious.
Apparently according to most we are not supposed to have them in the northern Aquitaine, Mellicta deione are meant to be in NE Spain and the SE of France.

Being a member of a town twinning committee, I find the title quite thought-provoking. I may never view committee meetings in quite the same way again.

LOL...I'll keep a lookout for some rusty cannonballs, Annette ![]()
You've captured these two beauts 'in flagrante' so well...and rather discreetly too ![]()
The colours and detail on the wings are WOW. The butterflies themselves are so beautiful, aren't they??
Andrew
A most impressive natural history image Annette, I envy you living in rural France the amount of butterflies you and fellow epzer Celestun find there is mind blowing. You can see a really wide range of different species without having to travel too far.
