Tried to recreate a pose I did some months back but it didnt work so tried something a little different instead. Several things wrong with this I think, should I have placed the lights directly in front of Alex and should I have used a reflector?
Outstanding this one K.
The daring crop works a treat.
She looks so mature here too!
Well done. I dont think there's anything wrong with the lighting, theres enough detail to tell the story even though some may comment that her face appears a little 'washed out'.
I love it.
Great hair stylist too! Was that your handywork?!
I think that the lightness of the face contrasts nicely with the hair, so I don't see anything wrong with it. thats a really dangerous crop K! Well done *click*
This is great (again!! yawn! ;]). I love the composition - really very professional. Also, I don't think there is anything wrong with the lighting at all. How old is she now?! Surely she's growing up faster than normal time!
Another one to be proud of IMHO.
Excellent! the hair really makes this portrait for me.
Personally, I think this is exceptional. She has incredible hair, great face and focus on the camera. She is a beautiful young woman and I can't fault the shot. I love the look, the lighting and the strong contrasts. So even if it wasn't what you intended, you've got another great shot again!! Clicked, of course. Keep them coming.
She looks more grown up each time we see her. I like the contrast of this shot and her hair and crop great.
You've turned her into a rock chic! Get her on singing lessons now!!! Oh yes, the photography,...not bad... lol. I like the adventurous off centre crop. The contrast is a bit harsh.
I agree with all of the above. Love the feel of the lights.
Goodness me! Thanks everyone. Gav yes my handywork and washed out was the effect I wanted, Jude she is 8 now although going on 27 at times . If anyone wants to see what I based this on look HERE but because it didnt work quite as I'd hoped I went for a more contrasting, harder edged image.
DON'T TOUCH IT!
This is stunning
I love it, total quality
Looks good to me as is
Like Shane said, don't touch it, K. Click
I like the relaxed look.Nice work
Great crop, lighting a tad too harsh for me but otherwise it's exceedingly good.
Love it-its brilliant just as it is.My god doesnt she look grown up!!!!!Beautiful girl.Doesnt she look like you!!!!click
Yes, yes, yes.
Very, very cool.
Stood out a mile from the thumbnail. Well done!
Oh yeah, and I like it contrasty
Won't want it any other way! Beautiful piece of work.
K this is very fine work, as for the hardness or softness it depends on what one is saying though the image thats my view. To me it says assertive but held back. Well done. john
its a great Portrait,
works really well
oops. missed this one. what a crackin' portrait. really like everything about this. clicked
Love the lighting on the hair. great portrait.
Great portrait, love the expression and angle of the camera. A little high on contrast for me IMHO.
This is a great crop, don't know exactly what you were looking to achieve with this one, but as it stands, it works for me (she certainly doesn't look eight!)
Very nice work.
Super shot - lighting and composition are perfect for me...
I'm honoured to be next to it in the gallery
Fabulous K. I think the lighting works very well indeed. Nothing more to add except great work.
This to me is such a fabulous shot K,looks excellent in b&w,superb as always*click*
This is simply superb. Your best shot yet I think. Wonderful. Get it up on a wall quick.
A very effective composition and lighting that capture the mood very well. It's hard to believe that this is an 8-year old, yet her pose is very mature and professional. Click.
it creates a different effect, depends what you were after, click (*:*)
I don't think there's anyting wrong with this at all.
We have a model competition coming up at our club, and I would love to enter something like this, even though I know the judge will reject out out of hand because its not against one of those mottled backgrounds, and theres a lot of "wasted space" on the right. In other words it's a really edgy, up to date image.
Now I wonder if I could get the bread knife to pose with some black gear on?
Goodness me again! Well I suppose I'll have to accept this as OK then . K.
Brilliant! well done
Absolutely beautiful, sigh!!. I wish I had your expertese. Just brilliant.
This is an excellent shot! Perfect composition, and I love the light on her hair. omg, she looks so mature! I can imagine this as a CD cover!
Thanks all. K.
I think this is excellent - it's a real rock and roll shot, helped along by the harsh light. She looks like a future rock icon here!
Excellent K, can't fault your work (wouldn't want to anyway)!!
Thank you both. K.
Stunning image. Well done! Bill
Superb portrait, excellent! Love how the lighting brings out the shine in her hair. Love the 'attitude'!
definately nothing wrong with this one K, even the "soot and whitewash" effect seems to work fine
Stunning K,wonderful portrait.
Like the way the hair falls over the face, the composition is spot on K....click
Thanks everyone, lol@Frank - havent heard that expression before! K.
Love the framing and the space. Good work K.
Thanks Mel. K.
Works well K
Nice as it is.
Whatever you did, its superb!!!!
Fantastic treatment also great composition!
Thank you all. K.
K, this is fantastic... the lighting works really well in my oppinion. As has been said, a very gritty 'rock-chick' style image, with tons of impact. I keep saying it, so here goes again, your portrait work is superb.
Thank you Miles, so much. K.
Cracking K. I can just see an album title down the right.
Thanks Steve, think Alex would like this as a poster on her bedroom wall, might see what I can do for her.
Great shot K. like the pose and composition, good crop and framing, i do think the contrast is a bit harsh and you have lost some detail of the face, but it works. Well done.
she is really beautiful.
Thanks Alan, harsh is what I was after after the softness of the image I based it on but thank you for your comment. Willa, I thank you too, take care. K.
Great Stuff, Love the composition and love the 'how can i say it?' Blackness?? Cool
Like this lots! Very cool and full of character. Yuan and myself had a B/W wedding photo shot exactly the same way (very similar crop too!) and i remembered how cool i thought we look in there... What does Alex think of this? =)
Thank you both. Soot I think is the word Neal! Sze, Alex loves it, wants a big poster made to put on her wall!
I cant say anything else K. I am not surprised that Alex loves it, it is a fabulous iamge, the crop is really fab!! Click
Thanks (again!) Ella, I do appreciate your thoughts. K.
Blimey that is supurb. click
Thanks Chris. K.
Love it - congratulations on a wonderful portrait. Terrific crop, pose and composition. *click*
Thank you Susie. K.
This is excellent. The crop works really well and the lighting shows off her beautiful hair. click.
Grabing a quick break K and what a shot she looks stunning and older than her age. Everything looks great to me from lighting to crop.
Thank you both so much. K.
Can only echo everything above, K. The crop, composition and high contrast work so well with this. Brilliant.
Its a stunning image K and she deserves her poster for being such a superb model.
WOW K you have a budding model here, she is so photogenic, and I realy like the darkness of the photo, top class work.
Thank you Steve, Jeanie (how are you??) and Teena, she does love this, she thinks she's Avril Lavigne!
i think there is nothing wrong here, it is just perfect! a beautiful picture
Thank you Yuki. K.
Excellent portrait, she looks at least ten years older and mature with it.
Is she this serious all the time or is it just for this shot?
Oh dear hope she doesnt! She is actually mad as a hatter and 70% (Kevin stage ) actually laughing but because her teeth are wonky she really doesnt like anything I take with her smiling. Thanks Matt. K.
A superb striking portrait, your lighting is excellent, and I like the way you cropped this. click
Thank you David. K.
strange I didn't click this before. Great crop and composition, nice lighting on the hair. Like it
Thanks Claudio. K.
Sorry, I missed this, superb.
wow...award winning photography here
I can't believe how young she is -- she looks like a teenager. Very good capture - Like the B/W it certainly adds to the composition.
Great portrait and composition. I hope my daughter ever stays still. Click. Alejandro.
Good enough for 68 clicks!
Thanks as always for your support and encouragement K!
wow, amazing picture
Thank you all so much, Susan, no worries glad to help. K.
It's the focus, that I'm nagging about again; although - it's somehow quite "Mystic" like this, more like a ghost!! Still like it,
This is IMHO is a fabulous portrait the model has great attitude and hair. The tonal range is excellent - maybe I'm photographing the wrong type of birds!
My sincerest apologies, I dont click the notify button and I've just seen your comments, thank you both so very much. K.
Some amazing stuff in your portfolio K ("Kellogg"??) This is a wonderful portrait, Max
Great image K - love the light in her hair - 8..?! My son is 9 and it looks like she'd have him for breakfast!!
lol@Lisa! She's a right treasure this one, caring, funny a right ray of light. I need to try and capture that spirit one day. Thanks all for comments on this, much appreciated. K. (and no not Kellogg LOL! )
