Description: Took this last year with a 3 pix camera, I've always liked this and uploaded a black and white version but it did appear flat. Thought I'd give the colour one a rework and upload at 1000 pix, not sure how its going to look. It was taken with just window light and today I've been at home and sunlight was filling the house, reminded me that studio lights sometimes are superfluous when nature can sometimes provide better.

Good point about natural light. I liked the B&W version but agree that its a bit flat compared to this shot. Its an excellent composition *click*

Lovely light, window light is often the best. Nice portrait although he looks a little sad. Would agree that this is less flat.

Quality work again K. Noticed this as one of yours. The lighting is superb, made even stronger with the black background.

You can't beat good old nature to light your subject. This has quality written all over it.

Shows just what a basic point & shoot digital camera is capable of doing.

Really good Ken. Just goes to show that no amount of kit can create a good picture without a bit of talent.
Postcard Jr. doesn't look too happy - I guess you've just told him he's got to sit there for another thirty shots :o)

was this done at the end of the shoot, K? He does look a little... erm... fed up!

No bother though, its natural light and a natural expression. Great work.

Agree with above - sunlight beats flash any day. Lovely soft lighting. I did think 'a bit fed up' to start with. But the more I look at it the more it becomes 'daydreaming'..

I'm not well qualified to comment on portraits K, but this looks great to me. Love the contrast of the soft lighting against the black background.

Excellent work. Definitely agree that sunlight is better than flash any day Smile
(And a little more sunlight wouldn't go amiss at the moment either!!)

Beautiful portrait, you have managed to capture that look of "innocences " that only children have.

This little chap will break a few hearts when he is older.

Nice detailed portrait, - natural light is great.

I wonder about heavy black frames in people portraits, - not just here, but in general, - I find they can look like those old "Im memorium" pictures that I used to see as a kid.

Mybe IM just morbid!
