Its started, the transition! Going is the urge to dress up as a pink fairy and now its Avril Lavigne grunge! Well sort of Alex bought the dress herself with her Christmas money and the wings were in a sale at M&S for 25p! Can never resist a bargain but the boots, oh the boots, pestered to wear them to school because all her mates are wearing them. Oh dear!!

And how old is she - wanting to wear boots like that?

Great idea for the subject matter.

Agree about the lighting, very good. I think, for me, the crop is just a bit too tight (looks like you've nipped off the tips of her wings).
I've got to say I like this because she looks well hard in those boots.

I expect to see my eldest start soon. Mind you, if I can produce a shot of her half as good as yours of Alex, I shall be well pleased. Nice one K - clever idea and well executed.

Ahhh maybe K is trying to clip her wings here Smile
Seriously - love it - what a pretty girl she is K but she has a beautiful Mum ...
Bye the way, I like the boots Wink

I love this pic! Apart from being beautifully shot it catches the whole concept of transition from childhood to teenage years perfectly. My own daughter will be at that thresh hold soon enough and I found this pic humourous but also sad.

Thanks all, and Pete for the HC Smile. I know this wont appeal to alot but it sums Alex up at the moment. That look is becoming a bit familiar although she did put it on just for the camera last night Wink. Boyd your right about the crop, tis a bit tight, I broke my 'background' and thats all I could salvage :-(. Oh and by the way those boots are childrens boots, I havent quite lost the plot yet! Wink

My almost 3 year old likes her fairy outfit she got for Christmas (bought by people that don't really know her!), she likes her punk outfit but struggles to find boots in her size that really top of the outfit!

I guess the next stage is dyeing the outfit, black maybe and a few tears in the wings?

Nicely lit and effective pose.

BTW, are they your boots K?

I love it. I love the contrast between the wings and pretty dress, and the leather boots and bruised knee. The expression is very "What're you looking at?" and completes the image perfectly for me. Good lighting and crop, well shot as always K. Great model. Clicked.

Thanks Glen, she is in a bit of personality crisis at the moment but even so I dont think she'd let me do that to the costume, although fab idea lol! No, not mine, the boots are hers although one size up and I could have worn them too, maybe next year! K.

not really sure what to make of this K, it made me laugh, because of the enigmatic smile, looks like she was not that happy with you for doing this.
from a photographic point of view, not keen on the hair shadow or the tight crop on the wings, but overall, its a very enjoyable picture to look at and the whole transition story just adds so much to make this complete, excellent work KSmile

Thank you Jim and Matt. Matt I had a similar sort of thing done last night but went for the almost untouched version, its a phase I'm going through Wink, tis very good though. Thanks again. K.

Hi K, never could resist a nice fairy, even a bad fairy for that matter. First class photo. If you think the transition is going to be quick my Nicola is 15 and I can't keep up with the changes on all fronts!!. Have fun.

Cool. Love the contrast. Initially wondered if the light on her face was a bit flat, but then thought it added to the "Goth in a fairy dress" look. Was that conscious, K? Having seem Boyd's mod not sure which I prefer.

Agree about the crop, but hey, what can you do if your backgrounds broken??

Last thing is that when she really gets body conscious she ain't gonna thank you for that thigh.

I hope I know my daughter as well as you know yours when she's that age. The depth of your relationship is so evident in your portraits and the comments you attach to them.

Now K, can you do that look as well? Could work well when moderating at times to quieten down the rabble!!!

noe this rocks! have another logo! really different. she looks like a rock pixie. great composition and colour.

Awesome idea! Really well lit also.
I think maybe it could do with 2-3mm extra backgrond as the crop is maybe a little too tight, but what do I know?! Grin
