Moving to the south east coast of Iceland and the Jökulsárlón glacier river lagoon. Here the ice from the front of the Breiđamerkurjökull glacier breaks off and floats in a 18km˛ lagoon. The icebergs can make it out to sea and often end up thrown back onto the black sand beaches.
This telephoto view compresses the perspective to show a distant glacier and then the range of shapes, textures and colours of the floating ice. Taken in the early evening the low sun provides backlighting on the scene, you can see some drips of water falling from the central iceberg.
