Ok so two uploads already from last night of the climbers on the Pinnacle re Curbar Edge from MartinW and MikeH and both wide views, so a different approach from me showing just one of the climbers with a touch of backlighting to him.
So it was Grosmont to the Peak District in little over 24 hrs with MartinW, MikeH & Jogafoto.

Large may be worth a peek

Excellent timing, excellent capture of light. And you've isolated the figure so well from the distant valley, it seems a world away.

Superb capture with the sense of depth that makes me dizzy

Peter

that is really strong work. He stands out so nice against that oof bg, and what a beautiful bg it is as well. Perhaps the colours are just a tad too warmified (could be wrong though), but it's not really critique. More like wondering how it would look with a bit less green/yellow cast in it.
Again though... very strong work, and very much deserving of the awards.

I don't normally go for zooms or shallow(ish) DOF in landscapes, but there's something about this one. I think it's the quality of the execution rather than the set up itself that draws me in here; the framing of the hillside, the well-judged DOF and the toning and isolation/backlighting of the climber.

Maybe next time you could ask him to throw on a pair of khakis or jeans instead of the Adidas, as they're the only part of the image i'd change ;o)

Cheers, Mark
