Thanks for all the comments and votes, Jen is a great model and will be working with me on more workshops later in the year. As well as this and the Black Widow set we shot some at the piano which I will post up next week.

Alice and her brolly

I was laying in the road to take it, had someone shouting car every few minutes! Alice is over 6' in heels but I thought she would look very statuesque with the 24mm lens.

Tea? by applephoto

Tea?

Thanks for all the comments and likes everyone, this has always been a favourite of mine. The styling was down to my fantastic wife who also was responsible for the hair and make-up. The model is a charming girl from Poland called Aga! I tried to explain to her she didn't look anything like a large cooker.

Hi Wayne,

I like the composition, the glove is a nice touch as a bare hand would draw too much attention.

Ignoring the colour saturation issues I think your main problem is lack of separation of the model from the background. Dark clothes, dark hair and a dark background really need some rim or backlighting or even a light on the background. They are all going to give different effects.

On closer examination it looks as if you have tried to paint in the background with solid black, this has lost the edge detail on her left shoulder and has oversprayed on her left cheek.

Regards,Andrew.

A great expression and vibrant colours make this a striking image but I personally think the crop is too loose. The blank space above his head is not needed, cropping in tight to the cap will put the eyes nearer the third and make the portrait more intimate. Personally I prefer 5 X 4 ratio for headshots as it concentrates the image more on the face.
I have uploaded a exampleof what I mean.

Andrew.
