One of three lilies I had for my birthday last summer. Long after they'd finished, way into the cold weather, I read about how much care they needed, that they are hard work but worth the effort. Oh dear, I thought, I've taken none of those steps, made no effort at all, I'll have lost them Sad. So you can imagine how delighted I was to see them all growing sturdily this year. This was the first one out - now waiting for the white one to flower Smile. Hope you like these images and thanks for stopping.

Sorry for the long absence - I am in the process of looking through the gallery, but it will take a while to catch up, I'm afraid. Thank you all for your lovely comments and wishes re Terry's mum, Edith.

v1 beats v2, 'by a whisker,' for me, today, Theresa. Exquisite color, DOF, details, & composition,...on all three images! Great to see You, back on site.

These are so beautiful and dream-like, Theresa. I was thinking how wonderful a symbol it is at this time, having lost your mother-in-law, to be reminded of the return of life, even if not in this world.

What a lovely thought Smile. And what I didn't mention was that these were, in fact, a birthday present from Edith - my last from her, so I will now be taking good care of them Smile.

Nice to see you back, Theresa, after the recent loss you sustained, and with what a cracking set of vibrant lily shots: I can't decide on a favourite, so it's 1/3 vote per image.
Ronnie.

Perfect selective focusing on those pollen bearing anthers - wonderfully soft throughout the rest of the frame. Gorgeous bokeh.

Malc: the dof is genuine, not photoshopped - I was very close, using a macro lens at f/2.8 Smile
