This adder was basking in the long grass, by Dunskey Castle. It's one of 5 I saw that day. I'd never seen an adder before then - guess they must be like buses!

Twizzle, how can you tell this is a female? Is it colout or size? I saw a very pale one that day, but really know nothing about them. Would be interested in your comments.

Amazing shot, well captured ! I have never seen a live Adder before either. To see 5 of them in one day must have been a great experience for you.
