Sorry this is a really boring flower shot. I was hoping to do something more exciting after not uploading for just over two months!
Lighting was just a small slave flash fired behind sheet of white Perspex.
The flower is a Chrysanthemum stood in a crystal vinegar bottle thingy and some green food colouring in the water to add some colour to what would otherwise have been a totally colourless image.

Nice and clean shot this, Rob.
simple & effective
simple but striking shot.
Cracking shot Rob, effective use of light.
I love the colouring, and the detail of the crystal. I think the deatil is lost in the flower. But your eyes are just drawn straight to that lovely green. I think it would of made a good shot whitout the flower. Denise x
Not boring at all...simply beautiful!
I actually think the flower serves a great purpose, it leads you back to the beauty of the vase filled with absynth
what kind of light did you use?
excellent, brilliant, great!
Nice image and great use of light.
Welcome back Rob, you've been missed.
A crystal clear shot, good detail in the large version.
The Man is Back!! Of course, I'm hoping it was my recent message on your last upload that encouraged you to return, but that would be too vain of me. :o)
Boring? This? Get away, Rob - there ain't nothing boring about this. The work you've applied to it in terms of lighting and colouring is absolutely superb. An inspired and beautifully executed image.
Wish I could do boring shots like this, lovely simple image
No. As flower shots go, this one is quite good! Good idea, well shot.
Super comp...lighting and image
what a fantastic shot this is good work on the lighting and love the green well done
Back with another classy offering Rob...
The flower heads a bit too dark for me but I really like the rest!
I really don't find this image boring,it's very well composed & photographed, love the 'vase' & the green food colouring just adds that bit of colour.Lovely lighting & detail..like this !!
Simple and effective, there's enough interest in the glass to not be boring. Not to everyone's taste admittedly, but I like it.
Looks good to me
Interesting shot, Love the green in it!
Welcome back, Rob. I think this works well.
one word: quality
Can't believe you have a crystal vinegar bottle! Congrats on the photo on the cover of FPME by the way! Jane

wish my boring shots were this good
Good to see you back and congrats on the FPME cover - looks fantastic.
Thankyou all very much for the welcome back :o) I will try and keep up with it in future.
MattieW the lighting was a very small (PORTAFLASH AC STUDIO SLAVE FLASH 208W) triggered by a nearby softbox.
Thanks Jane and Chris! I'm very lucky to have my image on the cover of FPME I think. They've printed the wrong shooting info in the mag, but i'm not going to worry about that too much. Can't complain! :o)
I'll try and catch up with you all on Sunday evening :o)

Hi there Rob - welcome back, great to see you posting again. Personally I'm not a fan of cut crystal and would prefer a less ornate jug, but that's me! Fabulously well lit, as always ...
Nice shot, didn't know you were posting again, nice to have you back! Spot on! Click!!!
Beautiful photo, amazing as always. Love it.
Monochromatic if it wasn't for the green. I thought at first it was a selective colour job in photoshop. Very simple but brilliant !
Thank you Phil. No Photoshop work on this at all, apart from cropping, resizing and saving for web
love this, the graduating grey with the green just in the right place even the flower looks good beautiful..
Thanks I'm pleased you like it
